In order to purchase new cars for the State House, President Bola Tinubu has proposed spending over N6.9 billion, with the Office of the First Lady receiving N1.5 billion.

This is included in the Supplementary Budget Tinubu submitted for approval to the National Assembly.

Recall that the National Assembly received a N2.17 trillion Supplementary Budget from the President for approval.

The Presidential Villa will receive N2.9 billion worth of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) from the government, and an additional N2.9 billion will be used to replace the cars in the pool.

This proposed expenditure comes as Nigerians continue to protest the National Assembly's decision to purchase vehicles worth N75 billion.

At a time when Nigerians are going through a difficult economic situation, some young people had staged protests in Lagos and Abuja over the lawmakers' planned spending.

The government intends to spend N28 billion on the State House in the proposed supplemental budget. Furthermore, the government intends to invest N12.5 billion in the Presidential Air Fleet.
