Shettima made the promise when he met with members-elect of the 10th Joint Task Force Assembly in his Abuja residence.
Over 60 members-elect signed for Rep Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu as consensus candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker ahead of June 5 inauguration.
Shettima said that Aliyu Betara, one of the leading aspirants for speaker, is his brother. The two are both from the same state and region; Shettima added that he has a good relationship with him.
“I met him two night ago and at the end of the day there will be no winner and no vanquished I have also met Rep. Ahmed Wase and we will continue the engagement.
The Vice President-elect vowed that he would ensure that members of the new House of Representatives conducted themselves in a civil way during their election for Speaker.
According to him, Rep. Miriam Onuhoa is my friend and I will reach out to her, my only request to the incoming leadership is to be just and inclusive
Shettima expressed concern that fairness be maintained in the distribution of four positions among members of the All Progressives Congress.
He said this is why the president-elect, Tinubu, was more inclined towards having a vice president from South South or the South East.
He added that the stability of the country was more important than other considerations, saying, “we are talking of stability, inclusivity and togetherness of the country.
He said that the reconstruction effort still had a long way to go, and that politics was all about image making. His job was to reach out to everyone who wanted his support in the election.
He also urged the consensus candidates to ensure fairness in distributing committees, urging them to make sure that members of all political factions were represented.
Moreover, Abbas expressed his appreciation to the APC and Buhari for choosing him as a consensual candidate.
He promised that we would work together to create a synergy between the executive and legislative branches of government, so that Nigeria could win in all areas.
