Osun state Governor-Elect, Ademola Adeleke of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, emerged as the winner of the gubernatorial election held in Osun on July 16, 2022, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC .

Ademola defeated his major contender, Adegboyega Oyetola of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC with 403, 371 votes to 375, 027 votes.

Recall that Adeleke contested against Oyetola in the 2018 Osun state gubernatorial election but lost with a tiny margin.

Before then, Adeleke had been tagged unserious because of his dance trends , while some people alleged he didn't have a secondary certificate let alone attend a tertiary institution.

Beyond his popularity for dancing, these are some credible facts about Ademola Adeleke.

Ademola Adeleke was born on May 13, 1960 into an influential family, he is a native of Ede in Ede Local Government Area, in Osun state.

Adeleke's family is a popular and influential family in Ede and they are known for their philanthropic acts.

The family is majorly Muslim, his father Raji Ayoola Adeleke married a Christian, Nnena Esther Adeleke from the Eastern part of Nigeria.

Ademola Adeleke is the last child of his parents with other siblings like Adedeji Adeleke, (the father of the popular Nigerian singer, Davido) who is a businessman, and the late Isiaka Adeleke, a popular politician who died in 2017.

Ademola, after the death of his brother on April 23, 2017 filled Isiaka's vacancy in the Senate which made him popular. He served as a senator for the Osun West Senatorial District between 2017 and 2019. Ademola is popularly called "The Dancing Senator" due to popular videos of him dancing.

His Education

Ademola attended Methodist Primary School in Surulere, Lagos state and later attended Nawarudeen Primary School in Ikire.

After relocating to Ede, Ademola furthered his education in Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede where he concluded his secondary education, and moved to United State.

Ademola proceeded to the US to further his education with his two brothers in Jacksonville State University in Alabama, United States of America. Adeleke affirmed he studied criminal justice with a minor in political science.

In pursuit of his political ambition in 2018, there was controversy as regards his educational qualification, and he returned back to Atlanta Metropolitan State College, United State where he was certified in the Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice in 2021.

Career

Ademola Adeleke was a service contractor at Quicksilver Courier Company in Atlanta , Georgia, USA from 1985 to 1989.

In 1990, Ademola started working in a flavour and fragrance manufacturing company, Origin International LLC, Atlanta, Georgia USA, where he served as vice president from 1990 to 1994. He worked as an executive director in Guinness Nigeria Plc from 1992 to 1999.

In 2001 Ademola started working as an executive director in Pacific Holdings Limited, which is his brother's company. He stopped the work in 2016 before he became a full politician after the demise of his brother in 2017.

Political Career

Adeleke fully started his political journey in 2017 after the death of his brother, but before then Ademola has been participating in politics since 2001. Adeleke filled the senatorial seat of his late brother in 2017. However, Ademola contested against Oyetola in 2018 and lost before he was now declared winner in the just concluded election.

Controversy

A controversy ensued when Adeleke was aspiring for the governorship seat in 2018 when he was accused of false secondary school testimonial and WAEC result.

His Marital Life

Adeleke married to Mrs Titilola Adeleke and they both have two sons and one daughter; Adebayo Adeleke, known as B-Red, Shina Adeleke, fondly called Shina Rambo, and Nike Adeleke.

Like their father who is popularly known for dancing, all his children are involved in the entertainment industry.
