Five commissioners in Governor Siminalayi Fubara's cabinet have resigned from the Rivers State Executive Council.

The commissioners are Prof. Chinedu Mmom (Education), Dr. Gift Worlu (Housing), Austen Ben-Chioma (Environment), Inime Aguma (Social Welfare), and Jacobson Nbina (Transport), all of whom are loyal to the Federal Capital Territory's Minister Nyesom Wike.

They were among the nine commissioners that resigned during the state's political crisis prior to President Bola Tinubu's intervention.

Their resignations came 24 hours after Fubara attacked his predecessor and detached his political godfather, accusing him of leaving a massive debt load on him.

The five commissioners resigned in separate letters to the governor, which were sent through Dr Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the State Government.
