The Attorney-General of Rivers State, Dagogo Israel Iboroma, has vehemently denied claims that Monday’s Supreme Court ruling reinstated Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the Government House on Monday night, Iboroma, who is also the Commissioner for Justice in the state, emphasized that the judgment had been misrepresented in various media outlets.
He further stated that he attended the court proceedings and was disheartened by the distorted interpretation of the apex court’s decision. Iboroma clarified that the judgment did not result in the reinstatement of Amaewhule, urging the public to disregard the false information being circulated.
He pointed out the importance of understanding the true implications of the Supreme Court ruling, especially regarding the leadership of the state’s legislature.
