Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, warned on Friday that if the PDP and Labour Party do not act to save themselves, they will soon face collapse.
Primate Ayodele declared that if the opposition does not merge, they will vanish within the next three years and compared their current situation to that of a coma.
According to him, a merger is the only thing that can save the parties from certain death; without it, both will keep fading in the nation's political landscape.
In a statement signed by his spokesman, Oluwatosin Osho, Ayodele said: ‘’PDP and Labour Party are already in ‘Coma’, they will be ‘buried ’in three years if they don’t merge. There are forces troubling them but they have not seen it. They need to fight it spiritually before fighting it politically.
‘’The only thing that can save the major oppositions; the Labour Party and PDP is a merger; if not, they will go into oblivion before the next election. If they don’t put their selfish intentions behind them, 10 million Atikus will not be able to do it and Obasanjo will just be ranting till he is called home.’’
Primate Ayodele specifically mentioned the PDP, pointing out that active members will leave for the ruling party and that Abubakar Atiku, the party's presidential candidate, will be betrayed, causing the party to become forgotten. He claimed that there are three political factions within the party, each battling for their own self-interest.
