The People's Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress traded accusations about a plan to disrupt elections for the state assembly on Friday.
The PDP's acting chairman, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, accused the APC's National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and the state's former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, of perfecting a plan to disrupt the election throughout the state.
The party also claimed that APC leaders planned to cause chaos in 25 state constituencies known as PDP strongholds and bombarded them with occasional gunfire, assassination attempts, or even the abduction of leaders.
The PDP further stated, "For a former Governor and a National Secretary of a political party to sit down to plot evil against the state is the height of irresponsibility," condemning the APC leaders' "desperation."
“We reliably gathered that the meeting drew up plans to attack PDP strongholds on Saturday using fake policemen already imported into Osun state and distributed across strongholds of the PDP in the state.
“The meeting pencilled down 25 state constituencies known as PDP strongholds to bombard with sporadic gunshots, abduction of leaders and outright assassination where necessary.
“The cold-blooded meeting further agreed to lay siege on Ede Federal Constituency, the home of the state governor and put Ife and Ijeshland on lockdown through violent attacks on PDP leaders and supporters.
