The Osun State House of Assembly has demanded clarification as regards the debt of N407.32 billion debt claimed by the Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chairman of the committee, Kunle Akande on Thursday, stating that they were bound to seek calcification.
The statement read, “The Assembly as the accredited representatives of the people is duty bound to seek clarifications and inform the people of the State accordingly.
“In this regard, we have instructed the appropriate agencies of government to immediately furnish the House with the updated details of the State’s debt and financial profile.
“We hereby call on all investors and business owners not to be alarmed by the said debt profile of the State,” he said.
Recall that Lagos Local News has reported that the Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke had on Thursday during a meeting with the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers disclosed that the State was indebted to the tune of N407.32 billion.
Adeleke told traditional rulers at present during the meeting that the past administration obtained loans immediately after he lost the election in July 16, 2022.
The Governor also told the past governors, Adegboyega Oyetola to account for how the loan was expended.
While reacting to the allegation, Ismail Omipidan, the Media aid to Oyetola said the administration did not take any loan for the four years he paddled the canoe of the state.
Omipidan said the claim that Oyetola took a loan was strange and far from the truth.
He summoned Adeleke to publish details of the loan.
