The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has made a move to uphold party discipline by expelling 84 individuals who were identified as loyalists of former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

This action was taken due to their engagement in anti-party activities. Notably, these individuals were found to have accepted political appointments from Governor Ademola Adeleke, which included roles as Commissioners and members of the Osun State and Local Government Caretaker Committees.

Furthermore, there are indications that the party may also consider taking disciplinary measures against Aregbesola himself. Aregbesola recently revealed in an interview that he intentionally worked against the APC's campaign during the 2022 governorship election in the state.

The list of expelled members encompasses key figures, such as the present Osun State Commissioner for Political Affairs and Inter-Governmental Relations, Biyi Odunlade, as well as Rasaq Salinsile, who was appointed by Governor Adeleke to serve as the Chairman of the Osun Teaching Service Commission.

Tajudeen Lawal, the Chairman of Osun APC, formally declared the expulsion of these members through an official news release. He explained that the action was prompted by complaints of anti-party activities.

A Disciplinary Committee had been established by the State Executive Committee of the Osun State chapter of the APC to investigate the allegations against these individuals.

The expulsion is a response to allegations of misconduct and actions that have tarnished the reputation of the party. The Disciplinary Committee meticulously examined the claims and presented its findings to the State Executive Committee.

After thorough assessment and careful consideration of the evidence, the State Executive Committee made the challenging but necessary decision to expel the 84 members. This step aims to preserve the integrity and cohesiveness of the party.
