Ondo Decides: FRSC Deploys 1,500 Personnel, Restricts Movement

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced on Thursday the deployment of 1,500 personnel for the Ondo State governorship election set for November 16, 2024. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed approved the deployment to coordinate with other security agencies in enforcing vehicular movement restrictions on election day.

In a statement released by the Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC highlighted its commitment to maintaining order during the electoral process.

The deployment includes 25 patrol vehicles, seven tow trucks, and six ambulances strategically placed to manage traffic, clear obstructions, and respond swiftly to emergencies.

Corps Marshal Mohammed urged officers to demonstrate professionalism and respect for voters' rights. He cautioned against any actions that could compromise democratic rights, emphasizing the importance of a peaceful election.

The FRSC also appealed to voters to respect movement restrictions and cooperate with officials to support a smooth and fair election process.

The statement reads, “As part of efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of the Ondo State gubernatorial election on November 16, 2024, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed has approved the deployment of 1,500 operatives, instructing them to work with other security agencies to enforce movement restrictions.

“This directive also mandates personnel to remove road obstructions, carry out rescue operations during emergencies, and maintain order at polling locations.

“Operational resources include 25 patrol vehicles, seven tow trucks, and six ambulances, reinforcing efforts to uphold movement restrictions throughout the election.

“Personnel have been reminded to uphold democratic principles and act professionally, avoiding any conduct that could violate voters' rights,” the Corps Marshal added.
