Mahama Ayariga, the member of parliament for Bawku Central, has denounced the military for killing seven people in Bawku without cause.
The seven persons were allegedly slain by the military on Tuesday night following numerous reports of shooting throughout the Bawku Township.
Mr. Ayariga claimed in a statement that the military killed the seven people by shooting indiscriminately at innocent bystanders and residents who were taking cover while trying to maintain peace and order.
One of the seven, a young child, was also burned to death after he caught fire in some nearby grass while sheltering.
“Let me condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the infliction of mortal casualties on innocent civilians by members of the Ghana Armed Forces in Bawku today. This is totally unacceptable, and I will leave no stone unturned in my fight for redress for these victims,” Mr. Ayariga said.
Mr. Ayariga also called on the government to immediately investigate the report and bring to book the perpetrators.
