

Dino Melaye was formerly unveiled by Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its standard-bearer in the November 11 governorship election in the state.
The event was helping Lokoja, the state capital and it was attended by the party leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state.
Melaye spoke shortly after he was presented to the party faithful, he however, expressed his appreciation to every member of the PDP for the confidence reposed in him and promised to represent them well.
According to Melaye, Kogi had no business being poor as she was sitting on a gold mine enough to make the citizens of the state extremely buoyant.
He added, “Kogi State has over 42 mineral resources untapped. There is nothing wrong if we have five Obajanas in the state. There is no reason why Ajaokuta should not be working. There is no reason why we should depend on monthly Federal Allocation. All these would be manifested when I become the governor through you in November,” says Melaye.
He also promised to use his connection around the world to attract investment to the state.”
Recall Melaye was a two term senator who represented Kogi West, and he was equally won the April 15 Kogi governorship primaries for PDP having polled 313 votes over his rival , Jabiru Usman who polled 127 votes.
Similarly, the ex-governor Ibrahim Idris called on the party faithful to support Melaye as he would help to bring the state out of the woods of the past seven years. Idris noted that they need to see themselves as one big family And however, described Melaye as a formidable personality.
