The National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is investigating the nomination forms of all three parliamentary aspirants for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency over purported anomalies.

All three, including 2020 parliamentary candidate John Setor Dumelo, submitted their paperwork online; however, it has been claimed that some irregularities were present.

“The issue is the filing,” NDC’s Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, who is also a member of the regional vetting committee, told the media.

It follows the prolonged postponement of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency's vetting.

“There were some challenges filing on the last day, and we are looking at the documentation because the filing was done online, and the online filing has certain features on the documents, and if you look at the three candidates, there’s some form of anomaly, although they claim to go through the process.

“So, our national leadership is investigating the matter so that they will, in turn, give us a true state of affairs,” the former Ablekuma Central Member of Parliament said.

The three candidates have yet to be vetted, and the nationwide exercise closes on Wednesday, April 5.

Mr. Dumelo, who strengthened the NDC's support in the constituency during the most recent elections, is competing against Moses Barfi Acheampong and his "former" ally Fred Nuamah.

Although it will be before the primaries on Saturday, May 13, the three were scheduled to be vetted on Monday, but the recent development may result in their being vetted at the national headquarters.

According to Mr. Tetteh Chaie, the committee is awaiting more instructions from the national leadership before making a decision.
