Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State who ran on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, has vowed never to join the governing All Progressives Congress.

On Tuesday night's episode of "Politics Today" on Channels Television, Fayose said, “Many people in Nigeria have been confronted with what they have said at different times and they either recant or say something new. I stand here to tell you that I will never be a member of the APC. I am not in politics for what it is anymore. God has given me a fair opportunity to lead Ekiti two times and defeated two incumbents.”

Nigeria, he claimed, could no longer be taken for granted. He used the example of how the young people who had been "taken for granted" attacked the leaders and removed them, stating that this was another warning.

He issued a warning to the nation's leaders, stating that the events leading up to the 2023 elections and the overwhelming interest displayed by young people demonstrated that things were no longer as they had been.

“Young people did not hide their disdain. They went for the leaders’ neck and took out the neck, sacked them, and occupied the space. Let me tell you again, this is a warning and further warning for those people coming in and returning, that if you mess with the people, they will mess with you in four years’ time,” Fayose said.

He said that his backing of Bola Tinubu, the APC's nominee for president, was motivated by equitable ideals, which called for southern Nigeria to assume control of the federal government.

“I have no apology for my action now and in the future. I have not hidden my respect for Bola Tinubu,” he added.

The PDP chieftain claimed that the main opposition party was splintered and that it was never ready for the 2023 elections saying, “my party was prepared to fail.”

If they wanted to win the election in 2027, he advised the party to strive more.

Fayose insisted that he disagreed with the PDP's choice to not transfer power to the South.
