Based on the degree of public acceptance it enjoys, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has declared that its confidence it will win the November 11 governorship elections in the states of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi.

At the launch of the PDP's National Campaign Council for the elections in the three states, Umar Damagum, the party's acting national chairman, announced this in Abuja.

Damagum asked council members to follow the law to win the three states, which he referred to as PDP strongholds.

He said, “What’s expected of you is to go there and remind them that this isn’t what we bargained for and that there’s a time God in his infinite mercy, always gives us to change the course of history, and this is the time.

“We’ll have Bayelsa, we’ll have Imo and we’ll have Kogi. These are PDP states. Somehow, they slipped away but Bayelsa has always had a PDP governor.”

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State and head of the Kogi State campaign team, also spoke and voiced confidence in the PDP's potential to prevail in the three governorship elections.

Adeleke claims that there is a "very great chance" that the party will take place in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi.
