Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has expressed shock over the demise of Victor Bala Kona, former state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Jalingo, the State capital by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, he noted that the “sad news of the passage of the former Chairman of our great party, Chief Victor Bala Kona, is such a painful one.”

He added, “We didn’t only lose a political icon but a father and a consummate family man.”

The Governor said the news was a shock for the party and the state as a whole, adding that the death comes at a time when his experience and expertise will be greatly needed.

In a separate development, the party's leadership issued a statement saying it was extremely saddened by the news of the former chairman's passing.

According to the party, Kona worked from March 2012 until August 2020 as the party's chairman “tirelessly for the growth and sustained leadership streak of the party in the State.”

The PDP said, “his loss at this time of our political journey is sad and colossal as the government and the party that he had assiduously worked for would have continued to benefit from his fountain of wisdom and knowledge.”

According to a statement released by the party's publicity secretary Andeta'rang rimmae, his absence will be felt at the State and national levels.
