Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, has cautioned against attempts to tarnish his reputation, asserting that his silence should not be misinterpreted as weakness.

Addressing the controversy surrounding an audio clip, Adams expressed readiness to clarify misconceptions regarding allegations leveled against him, dismissing the content as fabricated and distorted.

The dispute arose after Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho and Lagos State Governor's Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, threatened legal action over purported accusations of conspiracy to commit assassination.

Adams, through his spokesperson Kehinde Aderemi, labeled the threat of lawsuits a coordinated effort to discredit him, affirming his commitment to defending his integrity and the office he holds.

In response to Ayinde's pre-action letter, Adams, represented by his legal team, refuted the allegations and disassociated himself from the audio clip, labeling it a selective excerpt from a private conversation in 2021.

Emphasizing his commitment to peace, Adams highlighted interventions by prominent Yoruba leaders but asserted his right to address falsehoods propagated against him, clarifying the context of the conversation and the nature of the rumors mentioned.

He reiterated that his remarks were speculative and private, emphasizing that any mention of Ayinde was based on unverified rumors and not intended for public dissemination.
