Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the most recent gubernatorial election in Ondo State, has congratulated Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, on his victory at the Supreme Court.
In a statement that he signed and shared on his Twitter account, Jegede also thanked the people of Osun State for fighting so hard to keep their mandate.
He characterized the Supreme Court's decision that Governor Ademola Adeleke was legitimately elected as Governor of the State on July 16 as a victory for democracy.
Jegede said, "I praise His Excellency Sen. Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke @AAdeleke_01 and the whole individuals and inhabitants of Osun State for the tireless and hounded battle to keep their mandate. Good has prevailed over evil and light over darkness with this victory. Congratulations!”
In its decision, the Supreme Court stated that Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to demonstrate that they had over-voted Adeleke and improperly accredited voters.
The supreme court's five-member panel decided Adeleke's reinstatement as governor was correct.
Eyitayo Jegede was the chairman of the Osun State Reconciliation Committee, which convinced PDP factions in the state to cooperate in order to win the gubernatorial election.
Eyitayo stated at the time that the committee was successful in obtaining commitments from all of the factions and that they have all agreed that presenting a united front is the only way to succeed.
"We also recommended that NWC should follow up and show more interest in what is happening in Osun State because Osun State is doable for PDP," he added.
