The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made a compelling request to the American International School of Abuja.
The agency urges the institution to refund a substantial sum of $845,000, representing school fees purportedly paid by Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State. Bello, currently on the run, faces a string of accusations including corruption and money laundering.
According to EFCC sources, Bello allegedly entered into a contractual agreement with the American International School of Abuja to prepay the significant sum for educational expenses. Documents indicate that the agreement involved Bello's eldest child, Ali Bello.
The request by EFCC highlights the intensifying legal scrutiny facing Bello, whose alleged involvement in corrupt practices has prompted widespread concern. Bello's evasion of authorities adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing investigations, leaving many questions unanswered regarding the extent of his alleged illicit activities.
