The inauguration of the national campaign council for the Edo State governorship election has been postponed indefinitely by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The original date of the inauguration was today, June 4, 2024.

A new date will be announced soon, according to PDP national press secretary, Hon. Debo Ologungaba, who made the announcement about the inauguration's indefinite postponement.

The postponement is caused by the industrial action engaged by the labour unions of the country.

Last week, PDP announced that Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintri will serve as chairman of a 144-member campaign council for the Edo State governorship election.

The PDP calls on all Campaign Council members, Party leaders, important stakeholders, members and supporters in Edo State and across the country to keep up their tireless efforts to support their Party and Governorship Candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

According to a list made public by PDP national publicity secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the governors of Taraba and Delta states, Sheriff Oborevwori and Dr. Kefas Agbu, would alternate as deputy chairmen of the council.

Members of the Campaign Council include former vice presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo, as well as governors chosen in accordance with the party program.

Mr. Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a former governor of Rivers State, was not listed.
