The All Progressive Governors’ Forum has urged their colleagues in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), against  speeches and actions capable of inciting the public against the Federal Government.

In a press statement released to journalists on Wednesday, the Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma affirmed that the economic and security problems the nation is currently facing needed a team approach towards finding lasting solutions to them, and not finger pointing.

Commenting on the press release by the PDP Governors on Monday, where they likened Nigeria to Venezuela, Uzodinma said it was unpatriotic for those in leadership positions to play the ostrich when they were fully aware of President Tinubu's plan to reverse the situation.

He said, while the PDP had cataloged what they perceived to be the economic challenges of the country, they could not proffer any solution to it.

Governor Uzodimma hinted that the release by the PDP Governors that “Ultimately, the decision rests squarely with Nigerians and other organs in the country to ensure that we take actions that will bring relief to all of us,” amounted to veiled incitement of the masses against the federal government, particularly coming on the heels of a 14-day notice of strike by the organized labour.

As stakeholders, condemnation or playing to the gallery for the masses commendation is not the way to go. Participating in the blame games is also not the way to go. All of us are members of the National Economic Council, where we have the opportunity to make our inputs. I don’t think my colleagues have exhausted that avenue,” Uzodinma stated.

He affirmed that he was pleased that PDP as a party approved the removal of the Petroleum subsidy, which is at the heart of the economic downturn in the country.

He added, “I don’t know when they stopped supporting that economic policy, but they are familiar with the cliche that you can not make an omelet without breaking an egg.

We know of the temporary hardship the policy will cause, but that will soon bring about improvement.

He urged the PDP governors to encourage Nigerians to be calm, instead of denigrating the image of their nation before the international community.
