Rauf Aregbesola, a former interior minister, claims that the warm reception he received in Osun demonstrated the public's support for his political philosophy.

Aregbesola gave a speech on Thursday at a colloquium celebrating his 66th birthday in Osogbo, the capital of Osun state.

Putting the interests of the people first, according to him, was the key to his administration's success.

The former minister stated that bringing people from all walks of life together is the goal of good governance, and he added that Nigerians typically recognize those who are passionate about something.

"Governance is not a complicated subject. Everything revolves around putting the interest of individuals on a basic level. We remembered each layer of society for our administration. After 54 months of our tenure, the people rushed out to receive us for this reason,” he stated.

"We rallied everyone, from the market women's association to religious leaders to youths and other segments of the state. We were committed to the people who brought us to power, and they have continued to reciprocate, as evidenced by the peace and progress that our administration in Osun achieved.

“The warm welcome Ilesa extended to Osogbo yesterday demonstrated where the people belong and their faith in our capacity and political leadership.

"It is evident from all directions that the people value us and are proud to be a part of us. I am indebted to each of you. We will continue to represent the qualities that have won you over to us."

He expressed his gratitude to his associates, friends, and supporters as well as the people of Osun for their belief in his political philosophy and stated that he will always be dedicated to them
