APC sues Osun governor Adeleke for appointing self as commissioner

Governor Adeleke of Osun State gave himself and his deputy commissioner positions while inaugurating 25 commissioners in Osogbo on 19 July.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has sued Governor Ademola Adeleke for appointing himself as the state's Official for Works.

In the suit recorded at the Osun State High Court in Osogbo, the state capital, the APC likewise sued Mr Adeleke's representative, Kola Adewusi, over his arrangement as need might arise.

Mr Adeleke revealed him and his delegate's official portfolios while introducing 25 Commissioners in Osogbo on 19 July.

Yet, the APC, through its lawyer, Sherif Oluyombo, has encouraged the court to decide if Mr Adeleke's activity of designating himself and Mr Adewusi as Commissioner isn't an infringement of Segment 183 of the Nigerian constitution.

In particular, the party is requesting that the court decide if "a state lead representative can… during the period when he holds office as lead representative, hold some other chief office.

Referring to Segment 192(2) and (5) of the Nigerian constitution, the offended party implored the court to decide if "an individual can be legitimately selected a chief of the public authority of a state in the event that his designation isn't sent to and gotten by the State's Place of Gathering for reasons for affirmation."

Beside Messrs Adeleke and Adewusi, the offended party recorded the Osun State Principal legal officer and Magistrate for Equity and the Osun State Place of Gathering as respondents.

It encouraged the court to proclaim Messrs Adeleke and Adewusi arrangements as chiefs "illegal."

The APC implored the court for a request "invalidating" Mr Adeleke's "arrangement of himself as the magistrate for works for Osun State for being invalid, invalid and void in opposition to segments 183 and 192(2) and (5) of the Constitution… "

The party is similarly imploring the court for a request "invalidating" the arrangement of Mr Adewusi as the need might arise for being "invalid and opposite" to the constitution.

Besides, the offended party encouraged the court to limit Mr Adeleke from "strutting himself and additionally carrying out the roles of the workplace of the chief for works for Osun State while he holds the workplace of legislative leader of the state."

Essentially, the APC implored the court to limit Mr Adewusi from "strutting himself as magistrate… until he is named as such by" by Mr Adeleke, and the previous' designation goes through parliamentary evaluating for the "motivations behind affirmation."

The suit was recorded on 21 July however has not been doled out to an appointed authority for a conference.
