The state working committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has reversed the suspension of Abdullahi Ganduje, the party's national chairman, imposed by APC executives in Dawakin ward, Tofa LGA, Kano.

The controversy started after the executives of Dawakin Ward suspended Ganduje on Monday, citing charges of corruption against him. Halliru Gwanzo, the ward's legal counsel, stated that the suspension would remain valid until the former governor cleared his name of the charges.

However, Abdullahi Abbas, Kano's APC chairman, responded by accusing the ward executives of conspiring with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). Abbas said that the suspension was politically motivated and intended to destabilize the APC in the state.

The APC state committee in Kano announced the decision to overturn Ganduje's suspension, indicating a rift within the party over how allegations against him were handled. The state committee's intervention highlights the ongoing power struggle within the APC in Kano, with groups supporting or opposing the troubled national chairman.

Ganduje, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, has faced allegations of corruption in the past, including a widely publicized video purportedly showing him receiving bribes. Despite the controversy surrounding him, Ganduje has remained an influential figure in the APC, and his suspension and subsequent nullification show the party's complexities and internal dynamics ahead of the 2019 elections.
