All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Osun state have been working tirelessly to keep the office of national secretary for the party in the state.
To that aim, the party headed by Chief Bisi Akande and former governor Gboyega Oyetola has been lobbying for Dr. Ajibola Basiru to succeed Iyiola Omisore, who recently resigned, to become the new Senate spokesperson.
It was learned that Oyetola made persistent last-minute attempts to save Omisore, but they were unable, which is why the decision was made to swiftly retain the position in the state.
As the Oyo state Chapter of the party is also reportedly moving to get elected, Oyetola allegedly met with Akande to discuss the plan to maintain the office.
According to findings, both of them are convincing party leaders in the state that agreement on the subject is necessary to maintain the office in the state.
As a backup for Ajibola, a source close to the former governor told Vanguard that Senator Babajide Omoworare, a former assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, is also in preparation.
“The Omoworare factor is in the case a religion card is played, Omoworare would emerge as an alternative to Ajibola. Osun is keen in keeping the Secretariaship of the party.
“In Oyo, the party doesn’t have a rallying point which put it at a disadvantage, but here in Osun, everyone is on the same page to ensure that Osun retain Omisore’s position”, the source added.
