Some residents of Osogbo, Osun State, residents beat to a pulp a man they thought was insane for allegedly molesting a woman.
Around 10 a.m on Wednesday, the incident occurred on the Gbongan/Osogbo road.
Before slipping his hands under the woman's dress and molesting her, the suspect had poured an alcoholic beverage onto the victim, causing her to lose her ability to see.
It was learned that the suspect was beaten up by people who saw what had happened, leaving him with a scarred face.
In addition, it was discovered that the suspect, who later claimed to be Olu, had two mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash on him while he was being beaten.
A passerby who went by the name of Jide gave an account of what happened between the suspect and the victim
“The incident happened around 10 am. The man looked like someone suffering insanity and he had a bottle of Captain Jack in his hand and poured a little quantity into a cup.
“He then splashed the alcohol on the woman’s face. Immediately the alcohol hit her face, the woman could not see well again and the suspect held her and put his hand under the woman’s dress and began to fondle her.
“That act made people immediately rush to the scene and freed the victim and started beating him. Two mobile phones and some amount of money was found on him. Some police operatives later arrived at the scene and took him away in their vehicle.”
The assistant spokesperson of police in the state, Theophilus Adekola, when contacted said he has not been briefed about the incident.
