On Sunday, new details emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding the removal of Department of State Security employees who had been assigned to assist Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, by the service's state command.

In a statement that was signed by Saheed Bakare, the group's secretary and chairman, and Lanre Akeju, the group Osun Shall Rise Again, the issue of the withdrawal of DSS employees had been brought to the forefront on Saturday.

However, OSRA stated that Adeleke's "unguarded utterances" to the agents led Osun Command to withdraw the documents.

But our correspondent's findings showed that the police team and the DSS team that was sent to work with Adeleke on Thursday got into a fight.

The DSS headquarters in Abuja had posted an officer to work with Adeleke and assigned him the role of Chief Security Officer, according to a reliable security source who preferred anonymity.

It was also learned that, a few weeks after the DSS workers resumed work, the force headquarters in Abuja posted a police officer and gave him the job of Chief Security Officer.

The two security agencies were said to have been at odds as a result of the development.

It was also learned that on Thursday, the situation came to a head when the head of the police team brought his colleagues from the State Criminal Investigation Bureau to a security post at Adeleke's office that was supposed to be manned by DSS employees.

The Osun State Command of the Service was said to have immediately ordered its employees to return to the office after the matter was reported, although Adeleke's response to the reported altercation between the two groups over the issue could not be confirmed.

Olawale Rasheed, the governor's spokesperson, confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the DSS and governor-collaborating police officers were at odds.

He stated, "The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a report on the alleged withdrawal of security personnel from Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“We want to make it clear that this is a minor disagreement between officers from the Department of State Service and the Police.

“The matter has been reported to the headquarters of the two security agencies for resolution. The issue is being sorted out.”

“We reassure members of the public that there is no cause for alarm. Your Governor is fully secured, and governance is proceeding without harm or hindrance.”
