The Osun State Government has made sense that its proposed staff review was not a witch-chase or a plan to sack government workers in the state.
According to the PUNCH, the state's leadership of the labor movement had rejected the staff audit, claiming that such an exercise had previously caused workers and pensioners untold hardship.
They likewise expressed that structures for the review were being circled among laborers without earlier gathering with the Work chiefs and asked that they be appropriately advised on the activity.
However, a statement obtained in Osogbo on Friday from Olawale Rasheed, the governor's spokesperson, allayed the workers' concerns and stated that the government was investigating the request of labor leaders to participate in the audit.
"The administration wishes to put it on record that there is no hidden agenda to sack employees through the ongoing staff audit," the statement continued. In the history of labor and government in Osun state, Governor Ademola Adeleke's close relationship with the labor movement is unprecedented.
“The unions are reassured that their interests and the interests of their members are well protected because the government has labor welfare as the first item on its governance agenda. The state government is investigating the labor leadership's request to participate in the audit process.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke is the best defender of labor aspirations in the state today. He is a leader in due process who has forged a close partnership with the labor movement. As a result, the labor-friendly administration currently in place can rest assured that no anti-worker policy will emerge." The statement reads.
