Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring food security for residents by harnessing the state’s agricultural potential.

Speaking during a meeting with the Presidential Livestock Reforms Initiative Committee at his office in Osogbo, Adeleke highlighted Osun's vast arable lands and forests, which he described as key to achieving food security and generating job opportunities. He expressed full support for the federal government’s livestock reform initiative, praising it as timely and beneficial for the state.

To advance this goal, the governor announced plans to establish a committee of agricultural experts tasked with developing a robust strategy for livestock sector reform in Osun.

Earlier, Prof. Attahiru Jega, co-chairman of the committee, outlined the objectives of the livestock reform initiative, urging Osun to align with the federal government’s vision. Jega proposed the creation of a Ministry of Livestock or a similar agency to drive the reforms, emphasizing the need for enabling legislation and stakeholder engagement to ensure widespread benefits for the people.
