Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has congratulated the newly appointed Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Ajayi, hailing his emergence as the start of a "new era" for the secret service.
In a statement issued on Friday, Governor Adeleke described the DSS as a key national institution with a vital role in maintaining stability. He expressed confidence that Mr. Ajayi’s wealth of experience across various sectors positions him to lead critical reforms that will enhance the service’s contribution to national security.
"The appointment of Mr. Ajayi is the beginning of a new era for robust intelligence gathering and national security. His extensive background as a skilled manager of human and material resources makes him well-equipped to fulfil the DSS’s core mandate," Adeleke said.
Governor Adeleke also praised the new DG’s early efforts, expressing optimism that ongoing reforms would be driven to completion. "His reforms reflect the fresh air and new tone in security management. We are confident that he will meet the high expectations placed on him by President Bola Tinubu and the nation."
The governor also emphasized the importance of deepening the partnership between Osun State and the DSS, which has contributed to the state being one of the most peaceful in Nigeria. "We offer our support to strengthen intelligence gathering, ensuring our people remain secure," Adeleke added.
Governor Adeleke concluded by wishing Mr. Ajayi a successful tenure, affirming the state’s trust in his commitment to best practices and adherence to the rule of law in his leadership of the national security agency.
