The judicial procedure that was used to invalidate Ademola Adeleke's victory in the governorship election on July 16 will also be used to revalidate the mandate given to him to run the state, the governor of Osun State has stated.
Adeleke made the statement while receiving "Unit to Unit Ambassadors," a campaign organization for the Osun West Senatorial District.
Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress was recently declared the winner of the election by the Election Petition Tribunal Panel, which was headed by Justice Tertsea Kume.
On the other hand, Adeleke emphasized the significance of the judiciary's role in establishing and enhancing Nigerian democracy and described the numerous judicial interventions that have contributed to the nation's stabilization on Friday.
He stated that he was running Osun to carry out the desires and goals of the people and urged the members of the group to continue their campaign.
He promised that his mandate would be revalidated using the same judicial procedure that invalidated his election.
Olawale Rasheed said, "Democracy is centered on the wheel of justice. Providing justice is the responsibility of the judiciary. As a result, every democrat needs to have undying faith in the judiciary. I have that confidence in the judiciary's capacity to uphold our democracy and correct wrongdoing.
The intervention of the courts has been beneficial to me. I will never forget the court's decision to find me innocent of forgery. We cannot have a robust democracy unless we all recognize the judiciary as the essential arbiter. As a result, we are appealing and hoping for a favorable outcome. I appeal to each of us to keep our composure and carry on with our day-to-day activities peacefully."
He continued, "I am aware of how emotional and difficult the judgment is for the people of Osun State. However, the legal system is the only means by which we can voice our disagreement. As a result, there is a procedure for appeals. We have every justification to make an appeal.
"As a result, branch out your campaign into different units. To achieve the goals and desires of the people, we are in charge of Osun State.
By God and man, our mandate will be revalidated through the same judicial process".
