Due to accusations of egregious anti-party activity during the most recent off-cycle governorship election, which was held on November 11, 2023, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State dismissed the State Working Committee (SWC), led by Ignatius Nlem, and installed a new leadership.
The party acknowledged the dissolution of the old SWC, led by Ignatius Nlem, through a statement released by National Vice Chairman South East, Chilos Godsent in Owerri. The statement cited the former SWC's engagement in actions deemed contradictory to the party's election objectives.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced the new members of the State Working Committee (SWC) and assigned them the responsibility of realigning the party in Imo State in order to win the general elections in 2027.
The newly constituted State Working Committee (SWC) includes Chief Dr. Amushie Emmanuel as the State Chairman, Hon. Amadi Chidi as the State Deputy Chairman, Okoro Charles as the State Secretary, Mrs. Ijeoma Egocha as the State Treasurer, and Hon. Justice Ugochukwu as the State Financial Secretary. Other members are Mr. Oparaugo Emmanuel (State Publicity Secretary), Deacon Jacob Onuigbo (State Organizing Secretary), Mrs. Loveth Emedo (State Auditor), Iroh Lazarus Iheanacho (State Legal Adviser), Lolo Ngozi Nwosu (State Women Leader), Comrade Edih Chidiebere (State Youth Leader), Chief Charles Nwosu (State Vice Chairman Okigwe Zone), Chief Onukaogu Paschal (State Vice Chairman Owerri Zone), and Mazi Nnamdi Aguguo (State Vice Chairman Orlu Zone).
Chief Dr. Amushie Emmanuel, the new State Chairman of ADC in Imo State, expressed his unflinching commitment to working with his team to secure electoral victory for ADC in future Imo State elections.
Emmanuel stated that the ADC is determined to use political and legal methods to push the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) to hold Local Government Council Elections in the state before June 2024.
