

A 35-year-old man, Sola Okunola, had been
arraigned by the Police before the Magistrate Court of Osogbo after stealing from the bank where he works.
The man stole N705,636 at Aisha Micro Finance Bank Ogooluwa, Osogbo.
The charge against him read thus, “Okunlola Sola, on the 13th day of June 2022 at Aisha Micro Finance Bank, Ogo-Oluwa area, Osogbo, Osun State, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did steal the sum of N705,636 (Seven hundred and five thousand, six hundred and thirty-six naira only), property of Aisha Micro Finance Bank.”
The Sergeant, Adepoju Kayode, reiterated that the defendant committed an offence which contravened Section 383 that attracts punishment under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun 2002.
Okunola pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
The chief Magistrate Olusola ordered him to be bailed with N200, 000 with two sureties in the same amount, and the first must be a civil servant.
The case was later adjourned to November 22, 2022.
Also, a case of a 44-year-old carpenter, Oluwasegun Samuel Olanorin, was also brought to the Magistrate Court in Osogbo.
Samuel was taken to court because he didn't carry out a job which he was paid for by a client.
He collected the sum of N1 million from Emmanuel Obinna Maxlewis to fix a roof in his house, but he didn't do it.
His charge read, “Oluwasegun Samuel Olanorin, on the 30th day of July 2020, at number 150, Station Road, Osogbo, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did obtain the sum of N1, 000,000 (One million naira only) only from one Emmanuel Obinna Maxlewis under the pretence of helping him to roof his house and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State, 2002.”
Following his plea of not guilty to the one-count charge, Julie Tolorunfemi pleaded on his behalf to grant him bail with the promise that there would be a reliable person as sureties.
The police Inspector, Kayode Adeoye didn't agree with the bail application.
The Magistrate, A.O Odeleye granted him bail with the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in tbe same amount.
He noted that the surety must be his relative and must have tax payment evidence.
The case was adjourned till January 26, 2023
