Adaeze, a female student of the University of Port Harcourt, was discovered dead in her apartment at Aluu community in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.
The deceased, a 200-level accounting student, was living in an off-campus residence located behind the main campus of the institution.
The discovery happened approximately two weeks after the body of a 300-level Biochemistry student, Justina Otuene, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Damian, was discovered in the boy's apartment along NTA Road, Ozuoba village in the state's Obio/Akpor local government area.
Professor Chima Wokocha, Dean of Student Affairs at UNIPORT, stated that the deceased's corpse was discovered in her residence and brought to a health facility on campus by some of her neighbours.
Wokocha said, “Her body was brought to the Chief Lulu-Briggs Health Centre by people who live around her in her lodge.
“She didn’t die in the university hostel. She died in her off-campus residence in Aluu and the scene of the incident was visited by the management of the university, including my humble self.”
He added that school administration and police officers visited the scene of the incident and later informed the late undergraduate's parents.
The Dean of student affairs said, “The police were there with us also. We acknowledge the fact that she had taken a substance and passed out because there was a bottle of a substance that was found by her side.”
