The news was made public through a statement titled 'President Tinubu appoints twenty federal commissioners of the National Population Commission,' shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
This follows closely on the heels of the President's recent launch of the Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System, along with the National Geospatial Data Repository and the National Coordination Committee on CRVS.
The list of reappointed commissioners includes individuals such as Dr. Clifford Zirra (Adamawa), Mr. Chidi Ezeoke (Anambra), Isa Buratai (Borno), Dr. Tony Aiyejina (Edo), Mr. Ejike Ezeh (Enugu), Abubakar Damburam (Gombe), Prof. Uba Nnabue (Imo), Mudashiru Hussain (Osun), and Mr. Saany Sale (Taraba).
In addition to these reappointments, the President has introduced new appointees to the commission, including Emmanuel Eke (Abia), Alex Ukam (Cross River), Blessyn Brume-Ataguba (Delta), Dr. Jeremiah Nwankwegu (Ebonyi), Ms. Sa’adatu Garba (Kaduna), and Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa (Kano).
Completing the list are Yori Afolabi (Kogi), Olakunle Sobukola (Ogun), Temitayo Oluwatuyi (Ondo), Ms. Mary Afan (Plateau), and Mr. Ogiri Henry (Rivers).
President Tinubu has noted the critical role of these newly appointed and reappointed NPC Federal Commissioners in effectively implementing measures aimed at generating accurate population data.
