Lodgers Record I Submitted When Leaving Work Was altered; says Hotel Receptionist

The receptionist on duty at Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, Adesola Adedeji where Timothy Adegoke, the OAU Post graduate student was murdered on Nevember 5, 2022, has today revealed to the court that the record she submitted when leaving work on the day was altered.

Adedeji who noted that the owner of the hotel's son, Raheem Adedoyin gave her a blank receipt to substitute the missing name, stating that she was aware of Adegoke's Death only when she was arrested by the police.

Adedeji was the 7th defendant in the ongoing trial, with the hotel owner and six of his staff.

Okon Ita while being led by her counsel noted that the initial record tendered to the hotel auditor had 16 lodgers, with Adegoke as the first guest.

Adedeji said the record book given to her consisted of 15 names, stating that it was not written by her .

However, Adedeji said she confirmed the difference when she checked her phone to see the snapshot of the records she kept.

While speaking, Adedeji said she initially showed the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case her phone, adding that she showed him the differences she noticed in the two documents.

While being questioned by the prosecution counsel, Mr. Femi Falana, the witness said both the hotel owner and his son came to the premisees on the day of the incident.

Adedeji also said she knew when the hotel owner departed the place but didn't know about the son.

She also said the name given to her to fill was not among those that lodged when she was on duty.

However, the Osun Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo told K. Eleja, SAN, Counsel to make sure her witness is around in the next sitting.

The case was however adjourned to Thursday, February 2, 2023, for hearing.
