Rotimi Makinde, a former member of the House of Representatives from the Ife Federal Constituency in Osun State, and Victor Mark, CEO of Ojulowo Omoluabi Empire Holdings Limited, got into a fight over a N90 million contract fund.
It was learned that Mark's company had been given the contract to build a radio station at Yobe State's Federal Polytechnic in Damaturu.
It was learned that Ojulowo Omoluabi Empire Holdings was awarded the project in April 2023 thanks to Makinde, a member of the polytechnic's governing council.
However, the former legislator attacked the company's CEO, claiming that he had moved to the United Kingdom with the project funds.
But Mark said that Makinde had taken N27.9 million of the money that was supposed to be used to finish the project and asked him to return it right away.
He also said that Mark was living a lie-filled life, saying: Mark Victor Eniola Whoever realizes him ought to please advise him to reconcile.
In a statement that was signed by Josephine Amadi, the company's Executive Director of Operations, the company told Makinde to return the money within 48 hours or risk jail time and that he had bank information on how the money got into his account.
“It is pertinent to state that Rotimi Makinde requested and acknowledged receipt of funds in the amount of 27,930,000 naira for the construction and furnishing of the project in Damaturu, Yobe State.
“Because its name is on the contract, the company has had to look for other ways to raise money in order to continue the project and complete it.
Amicable resolution, diplomacy, and passionate appeals have been used during this time.
Rotimi Makinde has demonstrated himself to be a dishonorable and wicked blackmailer, and he has threatened to unleash the entire world if our Chairman revealed the evidence.
“He did not stop there; he began to contact friends and partners to discredit our Chairman and spread lies on Facebook.
“He has threatened to silence our Chairman by posting pictures of him with terrible captions on his page and on the pages of a callous blogger.
“At an early stage, the blogger was approached with evidence, deleted his previous post, and he apologized to our Chairman (there is also evidence of the post and apology).
The statement said, "However, it appears the blogger has now been paid enough to risk a jail term for his paymaster."
Makinde allegedly told Mark to "either be silent or attempt to visit Nigeria at the cost of his life," claiming he was using political power to hide the truth.
“What Rotimi Makinde has forgotten is that threatening our Chairman's life and posting pictures of him with false and defamatory statements only add to his fraud, which is illegal no matter how high up he thinks he is, and is punishable by law.
"He has also forgotten that the evidences with which he acknowledged receiving these funds are available and will be presented to the appropriate authorities in due time."
