Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state and former ambassador to Togo, Ambassador Sola Iji, has criticized the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, for his positions and criticism of the party's National Working Committee regarding the zoning arrangements of the National Assembly leadership.

Iji criticized Akeredolu for criticizing the NWC decision and supporting disgruntled candidates who were disfavored by the zoning. Iji claimed that Akeredolu's actions constitute disrespect, work against the party, and cause discontent.

He reprimanded the positions taken by the legislative head of Ondo state and kept up with that the NWC of the APC's proposition to zon the administrative roles of the yet-to-be-initiated Public Gathering shouldn't bring on any debate.

The past specialist said: " Not only did Akeredolu clearly criticize the NWC for making such a decision regarding drafting, but the lead representative also criticized the NWC's decision, praised competitors who were dissatisfied or frustrated by the drafting for disobeying, and urged them to take part in an unwelcome revolt against the party as a result of the expressed decision regarding drafting.

"An exceptionally respected and high-positioning pioneer like the Chief Legislative head of Ondo State ought not be heard to say something that could be utilized to censure our incredible party's initiative.

"As a matter of fact, such an issue ought not to be discussed in the newspapers. Instead, it should have gone smoothly.

"In point of fact, the Governor, by virtue of his position as head of the Party, has unrestricted access to the party's initiatives, including those of the Public Executive, other public pioneers, and individuals from the NWC. He also has unrestricted access to the duly elected president, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with whom he ought to have had private conversations to explain his reservations regarding the choice made by the NWC.

“Despite the fact that Barr represents Ondo State in the NWC, His Excellency the Governor has close and known access to the party's National Secretary, in addition to having private access to the leadership of the NWC. D. I. Kekemeke, the Party's Southwest National Vice Chairman.

Iji claimed, "the governor acted out of disrespect to the constituted authority of the party,"

"the opinions so expressed in the Press Statement do not represent the position of leaders and members of the Party in Ondo State, and at best, are His Excellency’s personal opinion to which he is legitimately entitled," and "the NWC of APC enjoys the constitutional mandate to act on behalf of the NEC of the Party in taking decisions in between the NEC meetings."

He said, in any case, that the assertion credited to Akeredolu ought to be viewed as his conviction and doesn't address the aggregate place of the party's forerunners in the state. Importantly, the NWC is the APC's highest administrative body, and members and leaders alike ought to respect and acknowledge it.
