The Ogun State Police Command is actively pursuing two suspected rapists following disturbing incidents in the Isabo area of Abeokuta and Abule-Osho in the Olambe area of Ifo Local Government Area. The reported cases involve the alleged defilement of two minors on a Thursday.

In the first incident, a 12-year-old pupil from Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta, was purportedly defiled by an unidentified man. According to a police source, the victim and her sister were roaming the streets after their parents had reportedly sent them away from home for an unknown offense. The yet-to-be-identified suspect invited them to his house for shelter while they were walking down the street. It is suspected that the victim was raped the night before being sent away in the morning by the suspect. The principal of the school, upon learning of the incident, reported the crime to the Ibara Police Division along with the victim.

Similarly, in Abule-Osho, Olambe area, a seven-year-old girl, who had left her house to buy a snack, was suspected to have been defiled by an unknown man. According to the police, the girl left her grandmother’s house to purchase a snack at a nearby stall before being allegedly dragged to a nearby bush by an unknown man and defiled on the same Thursday. The assault resulted in uncontrollable bleeding from the minor’s private part, and she was promptly rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Confirming both incidents, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, addressed the crimes via a WhatsApp chat on Sunday. Odutola assured that efforts were underway to apprehend the suspects, stating, “Efforts are on top gear to begin arresting those involved in the crime. Our men visited the scenes of the crimes.
