Nigerian Correctional Service Appoints new DCGs

The six Assistant Controllers-General of Correction have been promoted to the rank of Deputy-Controllers General of Corrections.

The promotions were implemented in the Civil Defence, Correctional Service Boards (CDCFIB), Fire Services and Immigration departments.

Abubakar Umar, the NCoS assistant controller of corrections and spokesman for the service, said this in a statement released on Saturday.

Umar named the promoted superior officers as Abdullahi Magaji, Ahmadu Adamu, Timothy Tinuoye, Marylaurene Melchizedek, Jerome Akinrujomu, and Joseph Usendiah.

The newly promoted Deputy Commanders-General (DCGs) were decorated with their new ranks by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, alongside their spouses.

In his congratulatory message to them, Aregbesola urged the officers to redouble their efforts in meeting the mandates of service.

He said that the Federal Government and Nigerians in general expected them to use their expertise and experiences so as to improve the management of prisons in Nigeria.
