The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has indicated that it is willing to collaborate with the Ondo State Government and other stakeholders to expeditiously complete the Ondo deep seaport.
It said the new seaport would be an important resource for Ondo State as well as add to its development and flourishing for quite a long time into the future.
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, endorsed the working permit for the port.
Top of the Public-Private Organization of the NDDC states and Magistrate addressing Ondo State on the leading body of NDDC, Gbenga Edema, said in an explanation in Akure that the seaport would give huge financial, key and foundation benefits for the state.
He stated that the project's success would be ensured by working together with important stakeholders.
He claimed that the port would bring the world to the Niger Delta states.
Edema said: " The persistent exertion of Lead representative Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at guaranteeing that the seaport emerges is a confirmation of his assurance to guarantee a more noteworthy Ondo State.
“Ondo State will benefit from the establishment of a seaport, which will increase opportunities for transportation, tourism, and trade. In addition, it will boost the local economy by generating revenue for the state and creating employment opportunities.
Because ports frequently serve as major cruise ship destinations, the seaport will also bring tourists to the state. Through increased spending on tourism-related activities, this could help the local economy.
Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, a lawmaker from Ondo South, said that stakeholders worked together to get the federal government to approve the deep seaport.
He said he began the quest for the port as a previous magistrate for Transport under the organization of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and followed up by proposing a regulative bill to lay out the seaport as a congressperson of the ninth gathering.
He said the profound seaport would assume a major part in decongesting Lagos seaports.
