The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is collaborating with large-scale farm holdings to enhance agro-allied productivity and ensure food security in the region and the country at large.
During their visits to farm holdings in Delta State, including "Adventium Songhai Delta Nigeria Limited," "Emmppek Farms," and "Okemute Farms," the NDDC team, led by Mrs. Winifred Madume, Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, conducted assessments of infrastructural facilities and readiness to participate in the commission's initiative.
Madume, speaking during the assessment visits, emphasized the alignment of the food security agenda with the Federal Government's policy, stating that it emphasizes "stakeholders' engagement in the development process.
"She highlighted that NDDC's intervention in agriculture aims to teach youths the business aspects, making it more attractive. Madume mentioned ongoing programs in Imo, Abia, Edo, and Ondo States, with field reports collated for presentation to the Group Managing Director to ensure food security.
Isaac Oghogho, Chief Executive of "Adventium Songhai Delta Nigeria Limited," expressed readiness to partner with NDDC, aiming to transform the 137.5 hectares farm into "its dream agro-industrial processing and tourism centre."
Similarly, Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, Managing Director of "Emmppek Farms," shared the farm's capacity, including 100,000-bir0d pens and a feed mill. He appealed for FG's subsidy on maize and soya to support the agricultural sector and advocated for a policy promoting "made-in-Nigeria food products" to boost the agro-allied industry.
