The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has offered its heartfelt condolences to the state government and Lafia Local Government Area following the tragic loss of 12 lives in a boat accident at Kogi Kungra Kamfani river in Arikiya, Lafia LGA of the state.

During an emergency session in Lafia on Thursday, Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Abdullahi, conveyed the message of condolences. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, he said, "It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of 12 individuals, both men and women, in a boat mishap in Arikiya, Lafia LGA."

He went on to share the grim details, stating, "Nineteen people were on board, out of which 12 lost their lives and seven were rescued. This tragedy has cast a pall of sorrow over Lafia LGA and our entire state."

The state assembly called upon the affected families, Lafia LGA, and the state government to bear this irreparable loss.

"On behalf of myself, fellow Honourable members, and the assembly staff, we extend our condolences to the grieving families, Lafia LGA, and the state government for the lives lost in this boat mishap," he expressed.

"We pray for the souls of the departed, asking God for forgiveness of their shortcomings and granting them eternal peace," he added.

During this solemn moment, the lawmakers observed a minute of silence in honor of the deceased citizens of the state.
