The quest for a missing Bolt driver, Thomas Aiyu, reached a grievous conclusion on Friday, March 31, 2023, after his body was found at a Lagos morgue.

After leaving his residence at 70, Imole Ayo Street, Abule Egba, Lagos, in February, the 34-year-old man was reported missing but never returned to his family.

Kelly, Aiyu's older brother, told The Guardian that the family alerted Meiran Police Station and reported the situation after unsuccessful attempts to locate him.

He said, “My brother stays alone, but my mum was spending some time at his place when he went missing. So, we reported first at the Meiran Police Station, which covers the Abule Egba area.

“When we observed that their approach was slow, we went to the Lagos State Police Command, where we were told to pay N100,000.00 to track his numbers. We paid the money. Weeks later, we did not receive any information from them.

“We also visited the Uber office to get information and we were told that on the day he went missing, he started a trip from Fela Shrine area and aborted the journey in Ojota area of the state.

“His car was found in Ojota six days after he went missing, while observing the vehicle, we discovered that the window at the driver’s side was broken and blood stains were sighted on the seat.”

Aiyu’s former classmate, John Ogunsemore, revealed that Aiyu’s body was found mutilated.

He said: “His disappearance came as a shock to me and the other 2006 set of Lagos Baptist Senior Secondary School, Orile- Agege, Lagos.

“After weeks of searching, his brother was advised to take his picture to Bolade-Oshodi and ask around. So, when he got there, he was told that his brother’s body was evacuated in Ketu in February 2023 and the body was deposited at the mortuary, and he saw the body there.

“He was a hardworking guy. This was someone hustling legitimately. I am wondering why someone can’t hustle legitimately in this country? He was easygoing. It is painful.”
