Yusuf Abubakar, a user on the X platform (formerly Twitter), has raised serious allegations against the Edo State Police Command, accusing them of negligence in addressing the heinous crime involving the killing of his cousin, Isiyaka Musa, by suspected hunters.

In a series of tweets posted on Monday, Abubakar narrated the tragic incident that unfolded in the Sasaro community of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo State, where his cousin was allegedly murdered while grazing herds of cows. According to reports, the assailants, believed to be hunters, shot and set ablaze the victim, resulting in the tragic death of the 21-year-old Musa.

Expressing his frustration with the perceived lack of action from law enforcement, Abubakar revealed that despite reporting the case to the Edo State Police Command, no efforts had been made to apprehend the alleged perpetrators. He further claimed that the suspects had resorted to threatening his family, adding an alarming dimension to the already distressing situation.

Identifying himself as a member of a broken Fulani herder family residing in Edo for over 40 years, Abubakar highlighted their commitment to peace, harmony, and abiding by the law. He emphasized that the incident occurred on October 23, 2023, when members of the Igara community allegedly carried out the brutal act during a grazing activity.

In his impassioned plea for justice, Abubakar stressed the urgency for intervention by the police authorities and well-meaning Nigerians. He asserted that while they are law-abiding citizens, they refuse to allow their family members to be treated like animals.

The gravity of the situation was underscored by the alleged threats received from the perpetrators, prompting a call for collective action to ensure justice prevails.

Contacted for a response, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, acknowledged the ongoing investigation into the matter. Nwabuzor assured that further details would be made public once the investigative process is concluded, signaling a commitment to unraveling the truth behind this disturbing incident.
