The Lagos State Government on Tuesday, October 31 apprehended some commercial vehicle operators for illegally loading passengers at Berger bus stop and environs.

Jubril A. Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement affirmed the operation was led by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Seun Osiyemi.

“The full squad of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation led by Commissioner, Hon. Seun Osiyemi, Special Adviser, Hon. Sola Giwa and the Permanent Secretary, Mr Wale Musa once again stormed Berger bus stop and environs where commercial vehicle drivers park recklessly at laybys, bridges and expressways which has constantly disrupted traffic flow,” Gawat said.

“After visiting for the first time, the level of compliance was very low, which necessitated a second and a stronger visit/enforcement. A lot of commercial vehicles were arrested.”

Gawat stated that the Commissioner and Special Adviser assured Lagosians and the commercial bus drivers that the enforcement operation will continue until full compliance is done.

However, the Lagos State Government had on 25 October 2023 warned commercial drivers and traders against loading and selling on the Carter and Apongbon bridges as well as every other bridge.

Lagos State issued this warning after operatives of the Lagos Central Business Districts dislodged commercial drivers and traders constituting a menace on Carter Bridge.

The Lagos government in a statement also expressed its displeasure that such incident occurred despite the vacation notice issued to all occupants of bridges in the state.
