In a significant move to address the challenges posed by banditry and terrorism, the administration led by Malam Radda Umaru Radda in Katsina State has given the green light for the allocation of N7.8 billion (N7,813,423,560.83) to acquire modern equipment for security agencies.

Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, conveyed this development while briefing the press about the decisions taken during the State Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda at the State Government House on Wednesday.

Dr. Danmusa revealed that a portion of the funds, specifically N4.8 billion (N4,852,613,400), will be dedicated to acquiring security vehicles, which will play a crucial role in enhancing patrol operations across the state.

He further noted that N2.6 billion (N2,697,484,036.33) has been set aside for obtaining state-of-the-art security equipment, and an additional N353.3 million (N353,316,424.50) will be utilized to procure various other security devices.

In an effort to fortify security measures even further, the Katsina Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs announced that during the council meeting, an extra N320 million was approved to supplement the previously approved N640 million.

This funding is earmarked for acquiring security equipment for the newly established "Community Security Watch Corps" in the state.
