The family of Iyalode of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson, has made public the details of her funeral.
According to News Outlet, Lawson passed away on October 8, 2023, at the age of 72.
After a meeting on Sunday, the deceased's media assistant, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, signed and provided a statement to newsmen. It states that the service of songs will take place on December 7 at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta and the funeral service will take place at St.James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on December 8.
In addition, Kayode-Adedeji revealed that a committee had been established to adjust the schedule of events for Lawson's funeral. Lawson was a well-known educator and entrepreneur who passed away on October 28.
He stated that Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, and Akin Jiboku are among the other members of the Central Planning Committee, which is led by Sanya Abiola.
“The family meeting is chaired by music legend, Ebenezer Obe-Fabiyi, added other members of the Central Planning Committee, Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi, and Taiwo Jiboku.
“The burial arrangement as concluded by the committee will commence with various activities from December 1 to 6, designated for various groups, associations, and professional bodies to celebrate the deceased.
“Service of songs will be held December 7, at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, the funeral service will be held December 8, at St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, Ogun State, which will be followed with interment strictly for the family members of the deceased,” the statement read.
