Four People Feared Dead As Cult Groups Clash In Ogun

Police makes arrest.

In the late hours of Sunday, an unspecified number of suspected cultists stormed the Ijagba Sagamu neighbourhood in Ogun State, killing no less than four individuals in a clash that was thought to be cult-related.

According to many eyewitness accounts, the group attacked Ijagba Street next to a mosque in the neighbourhood on Sunday and shot two persons there.

The two victims, who were both reportedly shot in the head, were eventually identified by the state police as Olasunkanmi Ajayi and an unnamed woman.

According to a witness who spoke under the condition of anonymity, the son of the woman who was shot in the head and died prevented the police from taking her body to the hospital.

Our correspondent was informed by a source in the state police command that empty cartridges had been found at the crime scene.

Another altercation broke out when two purported members of the Aiye confraternity shot and killed two people as the police squad led by the Area Commander of Sagamu, Shehu Alao, was attempting to restore order in the neighbourhood.

At least two arrests had been made, according to Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, who verified the incident to our correspondent in a statement on Monday, and Abiodun Alamutu, the commissioner of police, was on the scene to examine the situation.
