On Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, CP. Faleye Olayele, announced the deployment of police officers to patrol the state's towns, major roadways, and other government institutions to prevent a breakdown in law and order.
Olayele stated this in a statement signed by the command's spokeswoman, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
He went on to say that deploying utmost security across the state will ensure a crime-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration in 2023.
According to Olayele: “Officers and men of the Command have been deployed to patrol the towns and major streets and all government facilities in the state to forestall any breakdown of law and order.”
He did, however, ask members of the public to report any suspicious object or person(s) to the local police station, and he assured the public of their safety before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
